Rich Dad Poor Dad

A few years ago, I developed the dream to start my own company. I didn’t really know what kind of business, but the idea of being my own boss and the freedom that can come with that sounded really exciting to me. A great part of developing that dream came from watching YouTube video’s about entrepreneurship. But, the book ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ by Robert T. Kiyosaki was the first book that I read about this topic. I remember that I was intrigued by the way of thinking that is told in this book. This book started a self development book reading chain reaction, that to this day, didn’t stop.

Rich Dad Poor Dad basically is a beginner book to personal finance. It teaches a way of thinking about money that was radically different from what I grew up with. In this book Robert takes you on this journey to the past where he himself learned the stuff he is teaching today. What I really like about this book is that every chapter has it’s own lesson. In a chapter you first get to experience what it was like for Robert to learn this lessons, he then goes on to explain it further. So, it’s a really nice switch between story telling and giving information.

While this book essentially is a personal finance guide, it’s also a very good read if you aren’t in to that stuff (yet) and I would recommend it to anyone, especially if this is the first self development book you read. This book learned me to think outside the box, to not blindly accept the knowledge and the beliefs that are passed on to you by the people around you.

What I like about reading is to experience other people’s visions. If you can place yourself in someone else’s shoes it makes you stronger in decisions you make, actions you take and in other parts of everyday life. So, I would encourage you to read this book (It’s a relatively quick read), an/or if you’re interested in this topic but doesn’t like to read a book, watch his YouTube channel.
