How to deal with bad days?

Bad days, I think everyone has a bad day once in a while. I see a bad day as a day when I feel unproductive, a day that I feel like I could’ve spent much more proactive. This makes me feel like I wasted the time that the day gave me. But is it that bad to spend a day doing nothing, or does our body need that sometimes? And how can we overcome the negative feeling associated with this day? 

For everybody, having a bad day means something different. The evaluation of how bad a day was, is related to the criteria you give to a good day. If, in your eyes, a good day is a day when you’ve been proactive or been outside for example. A bad day is a day when you’ve been less proactive or not been outside. 

If I feel like I’ve been lazy, I consider it a bad day. But sometimes your body needs some rest. Our bodies aren’t made to perform at a 100% all the time. Taking a step back and relax is actually a way to perform better the next day.

The balance between being lazy and taking some rest is a hard thing for me. I know my body needs rest to recover so it can perform better in the end. But if I don’t do something active, I feel like I’ve wasted that day. I’m in the process of convincing myself that doing nothing for a day is a good thing, It’s actually beneficial for your performance the next day. 

This is a process where I can discover what my body needs and listen to that. The most important thing is listening to your body. Do you feel like your body needs a day of rest? Then rest. We don’t need to push our bodies to the fullest all the time. Of course, pushing our bodies and mind is a good thing, if done once in a while. For example, the days when you don’t feel like going to the gym, are most of the time the days that feel the greatest in the end because you accomplished something, you didn’t give up and that’s a good thing.

But, I think that this will be a journey that will take some time to come to its conclusion. I need to learn to listen to my body and (most of the time) react to that, and then also be content with the decisions I make based on my feelings. When I do that, I will actually use my body to the fullest potential.
